The oyster has been called the canary in the estuary for the death of an oyster can reveal environmental changes or pollution that might have gone unnoticed. A feature length documentary that follows a south east coast Australian oyster farmer, his family and the precarious three-year journey it takes to bring their Sydney Rock Oysters to market.

Over a period of three years, The Tentmakers of Cairo, follows a community of Egyptian artisans whose craft has remained largely untouched since Pharaonic times. While their hands stitch superbly detailed traditional designs, they try to make sense of Egypt’s turbulent political scene, from the 2011 revolution to the election of Abdel Fatah Al Sisi in 2014.

In December 2005 Van Nguyen, a 24 year-old Australian, was hanged by the state of Singapore for heroin trafficking. Filmed across two years, 'Just Punishment' tells the remarkable story behind the fight to save his life.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan, a veteran of the war in Vietnam, volunteers her time to help find Vietnam’s more than 300,000 wartime missing persons.

Less and less of Vietnam’s missing are being found as graves remain unmarked in national cemeteries, remains degrade in the tropical jungles and relatives die without learning the whereabouts of their loved ones.

Mrs Nhan scours the cemeteries and graveyards of Vietnam to find what remains of Vietnam’s wartime missing persons to heal their families, her country and herself.

A WOMAN OF COURAGE (Production)

At 93 years of age, Mrs Nguyễn Thị Xuân Phượng said she was at first hesitant to write her memoir as she thinks there are many other women whose lives are more worth telling.

“A Woman of Courage” tells the inspirational story of a Vietnamese who at the age of 16 ran away from her affluent family to become a revolutionary, turned her back on her stable career to become a documentary film director and risked everything to show Vietnamese art to the world.

An amazing story of perseverance and dedication.

Art Vietnam Gallery and Non’D’Script are excited to have joined together with artist Đinh Thị Thắm Poong to make a film about this extraordinary artist. A relationship built over 20 years has seen Thắm Poong develop into one of Vietnam’s most accomplished and internationally renowned artists with permanent collections in the Singapore Art Museum, Fukuoka Asean Art Museum in Japan, the Rupertinum Museum der Moderne Salzburg, among many others.

The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) has been supporting scientific research into zoonotic disease and food safety in wet markets, for over 10 years. Through funding the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) this research is helping to understand how human and animal health interact and to develop methods to reduce the risk of food-borne diseases.
